The Lodge began life around 1895 as a one story cabin belonging to the Bryant family that operated "The Cabin", the first store in West Bridgton, also located on the property. The store and cabin were seasonal and only open during the summer months. In 1914 when local entrepreneur CE Cobb bought the property he added the second floor and named the place Denmark Lodge. This was the rustic sister to his Denmark Inn, located about 5 miles away in Denmark Village.
